Life around you is affected by your mind – it’s more powerful than most people give it credit for. Now think about it like this: If you have a perception or a look at life that is negative, you’re going get back negative things. If you are so focused on doubting yourself, the things you receive back are only going to confirm that. If you’re focused on anger, you’re going to get back things that are going to make you angry.
You are a mirror, a reflection of what you project and what you see back from the world. We’ve all had experiences in our life where this has happened, and I know it’s easy to say “Hey, this is not my fault. Are you saying this is my fault?”
No, the first sign of courage is to not blame ourselves or anyone for anything that’s going on. There are some things out here in the world that I don’t even understand. When you become aware of it, you can adjust, adapt and overcome.
One of the greatest philosophers of all time, Socrates, says that “I know that I know nothing.”
That’s because we’re constantly learning, and he learned through self-observation, understanding and how he responds to his environment.
That’s what I want for you this year. To enjoy the journey, pay attention to the steps you are taking just like that little child who’s walking outside and they’re watching their feet. Have you seen that little kid in the park? They’re walking and they’re looking at their feet.
Look at your feet for now. Gain balance, perspective, and the trust that you need to know that you can do it. From there, look out – look out at where you want to go, and give yourself the trust and understanding that you can do it.
We can learn a lot from kids… think about it. How many times do we fall? Do you quit after the first fall, or do you get back up and get a little better each time?
Do kids stay on the ground when they’re learning to walk, or do they keep getting back up?
I want this year to be coming from your observations, taking a deeper approach and looking at what things to do. You need to change your habits, your behaviors, the way you think , the way you talk and the way you act.
Does it resonate with you?
It did with me too.
Do your thoughts and behaviors come from what YOU truly want, or is it coming from some outside influence you’re trying to emulate? This was a big mistake I made and when I first arrived into the industry of coaching and speaking. I was trying to emulate this person and that person. I realized that it was not me.
I took the time to take a deep look at myself, and now I am different. I work only on expressing myself through that part of me that I truly want to express.
What is it that you want to express? What have you been holding back on, because you thought that it would disappoint or upset someone else?
Now – I want you to take time to do that. Do the things that light you up, and make your heart sing. Be courageous and take the steps that you need to be happy, and to be the person that you want to be.
What is it that lights you up?
